Two From Valley Win Scholarship Funds In Derby AKRON, Kenneth Cline of Lincoln, who wants to study mechanical engineering at the University of Nebraska, won the 30th Soap Box Derby Saturday and received a $7,500 college scholarship. The 13-year-old youngster piloted a needle-nosed racer to victory before an estimated crowd of 70,000 "at derby downs and nipped the second place finisher by less than one foot. Howard Stanley Ranum III, 12, of Aberdeen, was second and Mark Handy, 11, of Indianapolis, third. Ranum received a $5,000 scholarship and Handy won $4,000. Cline's racer won the final heat in 27.51 seconds.

He said he spent 1,400 hours working on the blue-green racer that looks like a small chaparral, a Grand Prix machine. His racer won best award. Scholarship awards went to the first nine finishers. The other six were: Carl Cleckner, Lansing, fourth, Richard Plavidal, Charlotte, N.C.,, fifth, Stuart Peck, Roanoke, sixth, Walter Teixteira Honolulu, Hawaii, seventh, Kenneth. Ambur ge Dayton, eighth, $1,500 and Dale Trepanier, Middletown, ninth, $1,000.

There were 244 youngsters in the race from 46 states, the district of Columbia, West Germany, Canada, Okinawa, the Philippines and Venezuela. Richard Baker Services Set MIAMISBURG, O. Richard O. Baker, 66, prominent Miamisburg businessman, died Saturday night in Kettering hospital, the victim of heart disease. He was the owner and operator of Baker's IGA A stores in Miamisburg and Germantown, the Range Golfing center and restaurant and the Miami Packing and Cold Storage company.

Mr. Baker, who resided at 330 South Third street with his wife, Helen, was a member of the Evangelical church; Minerva lodge 98, Adoniram council 131, Valley Commandary 44, KT; Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton; Antioch Shrine, 100F and a life mem: ber of the American Legion. Other survivors include daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Beckner; four brothers, Henry of Miamisburg, Herbert in Alaska, George and Robert, both of Germantown and two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Reed of Wheaton, and Mrs.

Louella Wingelwich of Germantown. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brough Memorial home here. Friends may call from 4 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Burial will be in Hill Grove cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the church. Girl Drowned In Maryland; Services Set FT. RECOVERY, 0. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic, church for Linda Louise Wendel, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin P. Wendel, of RR 1, St.

Anthony. Miss Wendel drowned Saturday in Oxan Hill, Md. Details of the drowning were not available last night. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother. Friends may call at the Brockman funeral home here.

Rites Tomorrow For Serviceman Killed In War WEST ALEXANDRIA, O. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Eaton Baptist temple for Pvt. Danny L. Ingles, 19, who died of injuries he sustained in action in South Vietnam.

Pvt. Ingles, husband of Mrs. Linda Ingles, of West Alexandria, was killed by automatic weapons fire while on bombing mission for the 101st Airborne division Aug. 13. He is also survived by his parents.

Haehn, 25, of Wapakoneta, 10. p.m. Friday in head-on collision on 33 near Wapakoneta. Samuel E. Wolf, 41, of Gibraitar, 11:50 p.m.

Friday in collision with bus on 1-15 one mile east of Wapakoneta. Anthony Linet, 16, of RR 1 Detiraff, Friday night in crash on Ohio 69, seven miles west of fontaine. Berkman, victim of the traindrove his car into and under a moving train of the Baltimore Ohio railroad, flattening his car and killing him instantly. A native of Watertown, N.Y. he had been in this area only two months and was employed at the Greene Valley poultry farm near Xenia.

He would have reached his 23rd birthday tomorrow. Funeral services will be held at the Neeld funeral home, Xenia, at 1 p.m. tomorrow with burial in Bellbrook cemetery. Haehn died of a skull fracture in the collision with a car driven by Mrs. Harold Shuler, 66, of Wapakoneta, who is in critical condition at Lima Memorial hospital.

Patrolmen said he was attempting to pass another car. Requiem high mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. 'tomorrow. Friends may call at Heinl Son funeral home.

Wolf's car, skidding out of control on a rain-slick highway, was hit broadside by a Grey- Shannon Sells 1967 Buicks Now! hound bus, causing minor injuries to 27 persons on the bus. The Michigan man had been in preliminary matches of the Grand American trapshoot at Vandalia and was returning home. His car burst into flames after the collision and he was trapped inside, but was believed to have died before the fire. His body was taken to Columbus for cremation and services will be held later in Gibraltar, Mich. Linet, who apparently lost control of his car, skidded into the path of another driven by a Dayton man, 29-year-old George Zavakos of 5057 Barberry boulevard.

Zavakos and one daughter, Lisa, 8, are in good condition at Mary Rutan hospital, Bellefontaine. In serious condition are Jean Worth, 24, a passenger, and five-year-old Laura Zavakos who has been transferred to Lima Memorial hospital's intensive care ward. Funeral services for Linet will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Rexer funeral home in DeGraff.
